Upper Hunter Tertiary Education Centre - Car Park UPDATE

Please be advised that there will be periodic disruption and closure of access to the Library car park from Hill St between Monday 2 November 2015 and Friday 27 November 2015.

This work is to facilitate a new car park, external lighting, kerb and gutter, stormwater services, electrical work, footpaths and landscaping.

The community is encouraged to use the entrance to Library car park from Brook St.

This week at Campbell's Corner

Works for this week include:

Ground Floor

  • Services rough-ins continuing;
  • Rendering;
  • Rear Entry Patio works continuing, will be poured on Wednesday. Expect disruption to rear carpark in the morning. Contractor has notified tenants and will have traffic control in place;
  • Ceramic Tiles/Waterproofing to toilet area;

1st Floor

  • Painting to windows, walls and ceiling;
  • Carpentry fitout continuing;
  • Services rough-ins continuing;
  • Wall Linings to new building continuing;
  • Lift installation to be completed by Wednesday;

External

  • Awning carpentry works continuing;
  • Painting to external facades continuing;
  • Roofing works continuing;
  • Dome Repairs Continuing;
  • Scaffolding and painting to precast panels on Brook Street with scaffolding to be removed in completed areas; and
  • In-ground services works continuing in car park; and

New Electrical Kiosk
Finalising connections and backfill. (Energisation date of new kiosk is unknown at this stage)

Work to reconstruct the footpath in Bridge St known as CBD Stage 4 commenced 19 October 2015. The site of work at this time encompasses half of the footpath area, extending out from the front of the buildings, along Bridge St from the Lucky Inn Chinese Restaurant to Munchies Café. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times.

The following activities will be undertaken during week two (2), commencing 26 October 2015:

Monday to Wednesday - Concrete pouring to infill panels starting at the northern end (Munchies Café) of limit of stage 1a work;
Thursday - strip formwork and move pedestrian fencing; and
Friday - finalise stage 1a work, move pedestrians onto newly concreted section adjacent to the building alignment and transition to Stage 1b site of work.

A weekly site meeting will be held at 8.45am on each Friday, in Shop 2 Campbell's Corner (previously occupied by Nora and Kate). All interested parties are encouraged to come, where a briefing will be given on the scheduled work activities for the coming week and an opportunity provided to ask questions or discuss any concerns.

Please see attached a plan with allocated areas for contractors to park.

Please note only contractors that need regular access to their vehicles will park in these areas. This same practice is being applied to the footpath works with the delivery of materials. All other contractors have been requested to park off site.

 

This week at Upper Hunter Tertiary Education Centre

The following work planned this week:

  • Prepare and primer coats to ground floor;
  • Patching and sanding to Level 2;
  • Partition and vanity installation to amenities;
  • Clear out the upper forecourt area in preparation for concrete preparation;
  • Site office and lunch room relocation to Loxton House in preparation for external civil/landscape works;
  • Lift works complete until commissioning (after substation and MSB energised); and
  • Complete cladding to lower ground floor forecourt.  

In coming weeks access through Hill St will be restricted to allow:

  • Removal of existing asphalt, replacing with new asphalt;
  • Excavation for stormwater services, new high voltage conduits to supply power to new building;
  • Installation of infrastructure of new external car park lighting;
  • Kerb and gutter works for new car park; and
  • New footpaths and landscaping.

  • Roofing works continuing;
  • Dome repairs continuing;
  • Scaffolding and painting to precast panels on Brook Street; and
  • In-ground services works continuing in car park.

The laying of the new water main is continuing along Brook St from the railway line up to Bridge St intersection. The majority of the footpath work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Works are also expected to take place on the footing for the new kiosk on Tuesday and Thursday located in the car park.

 

This week at Upper Hunter Tertiary Education Centre

The following work planned this week:

  • Tiling to wet areas;
  • Dropping scaffold to south elevation;
  • Commencing retaining wall near library with footing excavation and pour of footing later in the week;
  • Setting and sanding of gyprock on all floors;
  • Continue roofing works; and
  • Angles to northern access ramp for reinforcement install.

This week at the Upper Hunter Tertiary Education Centre

The following work planned this week:

  • Construction of retaining wall to lower ground forecourt;
  • Sealing/first coat to internal walls and ceilings;
  • Backfill to retaining walls to upper forecourt area;
  • Continue setting/sanding walls and commence grid to internals;
  • Continue tiling to wet areas;
  • Continue lift car construction;
  • Installation of doors;
  • Pour spoon drain and remaining lower ground floor slabs to inside of building; and
  • Install formwork and reinforcement to northern access ramp.

  • Ceramic tiles to toilet commencing;

1st Floor

  • Painting to windows, walls and ceiling;

  • Wall linings to new building continuing;

  • Painting to external facades continuing;

The ASP1 electrical contractor will be back onsite this week working in Brook Street from the railway line to Bridge Street to finalise the installation of the new electrical kiosk.

  • Timber window refurbishment;
  • Services rough-ins;
  • Perforated linings installation;

External

  • Awning carpentry works continuing;
  • Painting to external facades continuing;
  • Roofing works continuing; and
  • Dome repairs continuing.

Final works before the connection of the new kiosk will take place this week with the placement of the kiosk on the footing at 12pm today. Traffic control will be in place.

Thursday 8 October there will also be a crane lifting mechanical units onto the plant platform. The crane will operate from the car park from 7am to 9am. Traffic control will be in place during this time.

This week at Upper Hunter Tertiary Education Centre

The following work is planned for this week:

  • Commence lift car construction and associated works;
  • Tiling beds, floor and wall tiling to commence;
  • Core fill to northern access ramp for bondek installation;
  • Install window frames to Stair 1, handrails to access stairs;
  • Deconstruction of scaffolding to southern elevation of building; and
  • Possible commencement of excavation to footing for retaining wall to lower ground forecourt.

There will be a concrete pump on site during the week to core fill the ramp walls. There will also be a 50t crane on site for Thursday to install high level window heads to Stair 1 and installations to the southern side of lift shaft.
