Women in Mining 2015 Mentor Program

WIMNET NSWMENTEES WANTED: WIMnet NSW LAUNCHES INAUGURAL MENTORING PROGRAM

Women in the resources sector looking for career guidance and direction have the opportunity to meet their mentor match through the WIMnet NSW Mentoring Program 2015.

The inaugural program, which will run May to September 2015, will provide participants with a structured and sustainable mentoring process aimed at benefitting mentors and mentees.

Fiona Robertson, WIMnet NSW Chair, said the program uses tried and tested methodology which has resulted in enormous success in both Queensland and Western Australia.

“Mentees and mentors are paired up through a comprehensive matching process, conducted by a registered psychologist who has successfully matched more than 278 women in QLD and WA with a female or male leader from the resources industry,” Ms Robertson said.

“The feedback from these other programs has been encouraging, and women in the NSW resources sector deserve to have the same opportunity to learn and receive career guidance from a mentor who is fully invested in their career.

“The WIMnet NSW Mentoring Program 2015 is the first and only face-to-face mentoring program for women working in the resources sector in NSW, and we are excited to be working with Metisphere and our sponsors to make it a reality,” she said.

Only 20 mentee positions are available in 2015, and women from across NSW working in a minerals-related discipline or trade are encouraged to apply.

Successful participants will be notified in early April and training for mentees and mentors will take place in May following an official launch and networking event in Sydney. Additional networking events will be held in July and October. For more information and to download an application, please visit the WIMnet NSW website.
